Inside scoop; Macarons ; why? Why blog? Well ok tell me something not to LOVE about this pillow like chewy meringuey mouth wateringly melty marvellous miniature treats. That’s it really macarons for me (and my Macaron obsessed Mum and Daughter) aren’t guilt free, but are ‘manageable’ as a mini treat. And they don’t come more fragrant and feast like than Pierre Herme’s gourmandise selection.

But be cautioned, beauty lovers, JUST like a good lippy or a great blusher : quality is EVERYTHING. In the world of Macarons you need STYLE and SUBSTANCE, FLAIR and FLAVOUR. Macarons are a serious business and indeed these are a serious price to reflect that. But OMG they’re worth it. A positive magpie’s myriad of flavours and colours sitting at the Super-chic end of the Macaron spectrum. These are the Rolls Royce, the Tiffany necklace of the world of Macarons and trust me these days indeed it IS a world!

Sure Paul Hollywood will have you think they can be whipped up and smoothed together by any old GBBO tent go-er. But please trust me here if you want a sweet treat to tantalise your taste buds ; buyer beware.

NOT all Macarons were made equal. Bit like scones vs. ScOnes! Do you say tomato or tomatoe ; macaron or macaroon…lol. Ok but as I say don’t be fooled into cheap substitutes.

So what’s the skinny? Ok not much of a skinny I’m guessing they’re relatively unwaistline friendly BUT worth every bit as these delicate little flavour combos are anything but a gloopy cake fest. So you somehow just don’t feel like it’s a bad thing. You eat them daintily (erm NEVER in one big gulp) savour the flavour and somehow come over all super chic Audrey Hepburn with a dinky fork and a cup of tea.

They count for me as a thing of beauty which is why I had to have a mini rave about them. they classify on every level delicate colours, stunning flavour combinations, elegant packaging … and great product photography that makes you go mmmmm.

Tam’s tip : The wiki definition doesn’t even come close for the ultimate good on a plate, better in the mouth, feel good, look good, taste good, go mental for macarons. Pierre Herme is billed as ‘Mr Macaron’ all I want to know is, is he single? And is it wrong to want to marry someone just for their Macaron powers???

A dazzling array of flavour combos means you’ll find a macaron for every moment. Feeling romantic team your blush lipstick with a ‘Rose Vanille’ Macaron, going all sultry pair Berry Lips with their dark and moody ‘Mogador’ chocolate and passion fruit mmm mmm. Check out some less foody beauty tips below, but trust me all of them are better teamed with a mood-lifting Macaron.

Depending on your texture / shade mood. As you can see my daughter and me rather love Macarons! I think I will have to do a post 2 as I just can’t resist the colours the flavours and the texture yum yum YUM in my TUM TUM TUM!
