Matte-er-of lips ; the naked truth

Rating ; Matte-er of fact anyone can wear Matte; so let’s talk High Street vs. High Chic. I put New Look vs. VB’s Matte-tastic shades to the test and guess what : the High Street has it every time on this one.

Inside scoop; Matte Matters. Lips hottest trend this season is Matte. From beige-to-nude to darkest Venom Berry it’s the must-try lipstick texture. Long-lasting, day-night wear it’s a great option for non-transfer glamour & really easy to wear. I put Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder’s [on left] & New Look’s latest matte blends [on right] into the ring – POW – the High Street took it. Erm by about £28 too!

Matte shades are everywhere this season, in fact they’ve been around for a while but have undergone a bit of a lip-volution this year. Previously crease-making, clumpy, fairly heavy textures, have been replaced by feather like, feels like air textures in every shade you can think of. The barely there / pink : beige are the best to start out with, as the newer heavy colours can look a little harsh on anything but the youngest.

Fake it ’til you make it

Rating ; Orange-you-glad we met; orange mitts, patchy bits, get glow-ver it. This is my tan-tastic top self-tanning product for a gentle tan without the tango look!

Inside scoop; no potato alert! Ever noticed how most self-tan products leave a slightly odd sweet/potato-smell behind on the skin. Over the years I think I’ve oddly grown to like it. Well no more, now you can tan-over a new leaf with this no-orange, gently-developing self-tanner.

This super-light cream-gel, absorbs in an instant & has it all for me. Develops gently during the day, absorbs in an instant and you can get dressed in quick-time. My top tip for all-over even application is to rub a bit of baby oil / dry oil after you’ve applied it on elbows, knees and inside of your arms to help avoid any tell-tale streak lines.

Rating ; PURR-FECT cat eyes in a stroke; I know a product is good when somehow I’ve got 4 of them on the go at home, or maybe more like 7. AND it costs way less than £10.

Inside scoop; There are ALOT of liquid eyeliner/penliners out there. Some good, some not so good, some doomed to give you Gene Simmons from KISS eyes [not always a great look!]. This precision tip, no run, last-for-ages low-cost brush pen will give you cat-like eyes in an instant for a purr-fect finish every time.

Flirty-flicky-fabulous eyes come no easier than this brush like pen. Key is a light touch and a feather like tip. This one by the clever folks @ soapnglory is my Number 1 for eyes in an instant. Lifts / opens / widens and adds a touch on black flirt in a brush. It seems to last for ages, dries quick-fast & never runs.

Comes in black, black oh yes and black. 2 pen sizes, but I recommend standard. You can layer it up or dress it down, for me it’s an everyday staple, above my Monday morning look today, but for others maybe worth saving for the weekend and you can practise.

Inside scoop; Ok sure the name is possibly a bit of an over promise, but anything with a name like that is worth a shot I reckon. In fact that’s exactly what it is; a quick-fix-in-a-flash-shot of firmness. You’ll be party-ready in a flash, but for a bit of cash.

Most of us have tried the mother of all beauty flash balms by Clarins, still a hot fav in my cabinet, so let’s call this one by Ren it’s slightly younger, slightly cooler sister. Gel formula, one small drop off the syringe (yup bit odd that) & trust me your make-up sets faster than the office gluttons descending on the free birthday cake. Inside scoop; again another TK Maxx beauty-steal (I love a good forage there) for me here but I’d also buy this one full price. Many of these available everywhere from loose powders to set. But – strobing – who knew?? 10 years off at a stroke, last night’s night out erased, selfie-ready in an instant.

Mama knows best : take if off ALL of it off

Rating ; CLEAN : SQUEAKY CLEAN change your life cleansing cloths ; 4 for £10 lasts forever

Inside scoop; your Mum always said take your make-up off at night, did you listen? Maybe : maybe not ; but trust me whether you cleanse’n’tone, cleanse’n’polish or just splash & dash, these super soft cloths take it ALL off fast and gently.

Cleansing is everywhere these days oil-to-cream, cream-to-oil, micellar water, cleaning milk, balm, cream, foam, oil to foam; milk to cream to oil ; it all pretty much aims to do the same thing ; GET IT OFF ; why? So you can start again the next day! Well there’s more to it than that, but key is clean face for a great base I say. These cloths changed it all for me, fast, super-soft, re-usable (forever), whatever your cleansing weapon of choice these just make it better. Pop them in the washing machine after a day or so, voila, good to go again. Oh and Mum’s top tip; give the kids a super quick once over whilst you’re at it; boom family done.

Inside scoop; found this in TK Maxx couldn’t believe the price, fine powders, last all day NO creasing, blend / change / shade / contour / highlight ; that;s less than a penny a look.

Stonking value ‘Martini’ eye palette ; literally anytime-anyplace-anywhere there’s colour to suit. Cracking names too I’m addicted to Highway & ok Luggage on after a long day ; it’s like beauty flash balm for eyes.
