Rating ; Eyes-wide-open – we all need Luxe-lashes, especially on a Monday when even after 3 coffees you’re still not feeling it and only match sticks will do! So here’s a neat little speedy beauty insider secret product for you. This one falls into the “more than a little-odd at first but once you try it you’ll literally wonder how you ever managed without it” camp. Another one of my secret-finds, for eye-mazing lashes in an instant.

Inside scoop; Lash-tastic eye-mazing value – this lash ‘treatment’ probably does need its YouTube video demo [see here] to help explain its true lash-loving benefits. But in a nut shell it rolls like this : pop on a coat of your usual mascara, then quickly pop on a coat of these furry little fibres (stick with me here not as weird as it sounds), wait 30″ secs, pop on another coat of your usual mascara. Result BOOM Lash-a-liscious long lashes without the false glue faff.

Scrub-a-dub-dub; spend Sunday in the tub

Sunday beauty saviour in a flash ; scrub-a-dub-dub

Rating ; Scrubalicious sinfully-smoothing scrub. Sunday is all about the chill, or the catching up with jobs or family, or whatever goes. No matter what I’m up to though I also fit in a bath on a Sunday & a bit of extra beauty routine, so this skin-tingling scrub helps whip my skin into shape ready for the week ahead.

Inside scoop; Exfoilating. WOW there’s a more than skin deep topic for a Sunday. Ok let me make it easy for today to begin with, basically do it, fairly often, feel the results (face AND body). Today’s scrub-a-luscious exfoliating skin saviour is a neat little find for the body from a range I discovered a year ago. Happens also to include in the range heavenly oils, a rather effective stretch mark elixir and a fab orange scented dry bodyoil;…but that’s just like friends with benefits. For me the main attraction is this unassuming tangy little scrub. In a tube, NOT goopy and will whip off the week and a bit more, at the touch of a scrub.

Scrub upsides oh where to stop, glam glow skin, smooth away the dead bits, fake tan skin ready, etc. Scrub downsides; depends on the brand they dry out quickly in tubs I find, flake off, feel oily, over harsh etc. So don’t be stuck between a rock or a hard skin place; try this scrub-a-licious skin smoothing product.

Today’s top product strikes that perfect balance of stays on enough to scrub-in- (vs. Rub or SCRATCH-in) doesn’t immediately slide off doesn’t leave skin red. Oh yes please we say.

Sizzling Saturday ; Meets Sad Sunday

Rating ; Whip-it, wipe it, wet it – Ok stay with me (wherever you are… and whatever you’re doing right now) tonight’s top (ok only) tip is a quick n easy skin-saving top tip: make sure you take it off (or at least some of it). I mean your make-up!

Inside scoop; Murder on the Dance floor ; maybe come midnight if you’re sporting Panda eyes. Happens to us all. So whether you’re watching Love Island or throwing shapes ten-cocktails in right now finding your next divine match; Saturday night’s only rule is TAKE IT OFF. That especially applies to your FACE!

So tonight it’s as simple as my golden rule; stuck to it for years no matter HOW good the night, HOW much wine I’ve had, at some point (no rules on when) I do take it off…not always all of it ;)! As much as I can. A wet wipe, a hot cloth, a quick dunk n splash but whatever you do whip of some of your make-up off, so that the morning after the night before is a little more bearable.

Since I was little my golden rule has served me well. Wedding, hen night, girl’s night, lad’s night, date night, no matter what once I’m home 9pm or 3am I whip it off….and if it’s good enough for Barry it’s good enough for me.

Fragrant Friday ; Scent-sational

Rating ; Jo Malone Schmo-Malone – Ok that’s not fair I’m actually a massive fan have been for years, but it’s not really her any more is it ; spoiler alert. Still am sure I’ll probably be reaching for a trial of the new English Oak and Hazlenut ; like seriously who comes up with these blend names. I’m personally looking forward to Parmesan and Port fragrance! Sorry JO I love you really I do and have been a loyal trooper for years but my heart’s just not in it anymore, I DO like ‘real Jo’ as I like to call Jo Loves her latest range; but that’s a story for another day.

So maybe I should be clear I’m just a massive fragrance fan full stop. As my hair dresser says who comes to my house ‘everything just smells so nice Tam, I mean everything‘ (no not in a too cool for school, I’m wealthy & have a home hairdresser way (!); more in a she’s so lovely and so fab I can work whilst she does my hair in the evening as a single mum kind of way!!). I digress.

Inside scoop; Scent-sational & Des-lices-ious. So Friday’s splurge tactic post is a 2-4-1 £££’s alert review – I definitely don’t always go top of the range as you see. BUT when it comes to perfume and your own scent, nothing really beats a true off the beaten path slightly original find & sadly they do cost. I’ve 2 today oh how I love them both scent-sational and unique doesn’t begin to describe. I think they’ve been lurking in Selfridges beauty hall for a while now but actually I stumbled across them in Austria in a teeny little beauty shop in San Candido. So I was eeeek with the £ to Euro rate I got, but still bought both…Shh…thankfully I don’t have a husband for you to kindly not tell!

Ortigia start with the leopardpackaging : end on the scent. Little more to say, Heaven-scent from opening to spraying. ALL their range is unique, mildly addictive and memorable. They say : THE ESSENCE OF SICILIAN ORANGES. A DISTILLATE OF ORANGE FLOWERS, WITH A BASE OF NEROLI, PETITGRAIN AND WOOD. Mmmm-mmmm

Rating ; Mist-y-fy me; face mists.…for many but the true beauty addict, kind of falls into the huh, never heard of it, don’t need it, didn’t know I needed it; argh thanks for that now can’t live without it camp.

Inside scoop; Beauty Mists / Make-up fixing mists? Spray that again? Really. Come on, a mist on your face, another step in your routine, another thing to carry GRR. But hold the press a sec, yup sorry this one’s a winner and my new found handbag essential. Possibly been lurking in many celebs large Mulberry hold-alls forever. But re-born this Summer with lots of botanical goodies & now a must-have. Today’s choice of the hot but oh so cool mists for me is Clarins Beauty-fix mist ; plain english, plenty of water, some scrummy extras, no mist-yque!

BUT WHY you say why ANOTHER product, ok stay with me a sec…so you’re onto your 3rd 4th or heck who is counting any more Costa of the day, definitely your 80th email and probably your 6th meeting. Phone at the ready, you’re off to the next, an important one with the boss, quick look in the mirror and BOOM there it is, staring right back at you – your day is written all over your face and not in a great way. Slightly tired (make it very by 3pm in my case) slightly dry, slightly smudged, slightly frazzled, slightly let’s say rumpled.

Oil-my-Goodness ; Lottery Winner alert

Rating ; Oil-alarmingly addictive – I shouldn’t, I couldn’t justify the £££’s (well the $$$’s) but I did….saw these on a beauty-insider industry bulletin I get, was lured in by their divine packaging and oil-so-good range. Lottery alert; because they’re not cheap. No apologies alert; as worth every penny. These super natural, super supple oils for face body and wellness do all they say and rather alot more.

Inside scoop; Oil-be-back. This divine delicious range of natural oils have got me, hook line and oil-slick. Perfect for face, body, even hair and eyes (who knew about eye oil!). But especially their wellness oils. NOT cheap as I say and oh-so Beverly Hills-chic, but if you can afford a splurge, have a birthday coming up, trust me you’re worth it. Heaven-scent & packed full of naturals there’s an oil for every occasion. I bought the well-ness duo & the face oil minis kit. If you haven’t yet heard of UMA Oils you soon will (they supply MANY big name brands I’ve heard) but only recently went out to the ‘great and good’ like us.

I’ve been using face oils for years now, even during the day under make-up, today’s textures are so light even for the most sensitive skin, they’re a beauty staple worth adding to your routine and are absorbed in an instant.

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny ; Squeaky-Cleany

Rating ; You’d be balm-y not to try this, and no apologies this won’t be my only or last balm-rave, nor cleansing post. Butter, balm, melt in your palm, this dinky pot packs a cleansing punch & will have you squeaky clean faster than a jet powered rubber duck.

Inside scoop; Butter, melty, softy-gently oh-so-effective I switched to cleansing balms/butters some time ago and am mildly obsessed. Especially kind to sensitive and/or more mature skin they whip off make-up in a flash without the rash! Super-soft melting buttery balm this Body Shop Cleansing Butter was recommended by a friend to me and I’ve never looked book. I wear alot of make-up, ok really alot, so if it whips off mine, trust me it works.

I confess I’m balmy about beauty balms I launched one of the first ‘rescue balm’s’ nearly 10 years ago & now there’s a billion balms for all occasions. Be warned some as you’d think can be a little over greasy, more like vaseline than balm and definitely don’t always do what they say on the tin. However Cleansing is a balm-match made in heaven as it gets in deep, lifts off make-up and impurities, but you can still freshen after with a toner. They call it sumptuous, I call this one plain effective and no-nonsense.

Matte-er-of lips ; the naked truth

Rating ; Matte-er of fact anyone can wear Matte; so let’s talk High Street vs. High Chic. I put New Look vs. VB’s Matte-tastic shades to the test and guess what : the High Street has it every time on this one.

Inside scoop; Matte Matters. Lips hottest trend this season is Matte. From beige-to-nude to darkest Venom Berry it’s the must-try lipstick texture. Long-lasting, day-night wear it’s a great option for non-transfer glamour & really easy to wear. I put Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder’s [on left] & New Look’s latest matte blends [on right] into the ring – POW – the High Street took it. Erm by about £28 too!

Matte shades are everywhere this season, in fact they’ve been around for a while but have undergone a bit of a lip-volution this year. Previously crease-making, clumpy, fairly heavy textures, have been replaced by feather like, feels like air textures in every shade you can think of. The barely there / pink : beige are the best to start out with, as the newer heavy colours can look a little harsh on anything but the youngest.

Rating ; PURR-FECT cat eyes in a stroke; I know a product is good when somehow I’ve got 4 of them on the go at home, or maybe more like 7. AND it costs way less than £10.

Inside scoop; There are ALOT of liquid eyeliner/penliners out there. Some good, some not so good, some doomed to give you Gene Simmons from KISS eyes [not always a great look!]. This precision tip, no run, last-for-ages low-cost brush pen will give you cat-like eyes in an instant for a purr-fect finish every time.

Flirty-flicky-fabulous eyes come no easier than this brush like pen. Key is a light touch and a feather like tip. This one by the clever folks @ soapnglory is my Number 1 for eyes in an instant. Lifts / opens / widens and adds a touch on black flirt in a brush. It seems to last for ages, dries quick-fast & never runs.

Comes in black, black oh yes and black. 2 pen sizes, but I recommend standard. You can layer it up or dress it down, for me it’s an everyday staple, above my Monday morning look today, but for others maybe worth saving for the weekend and you can practise.
